Hello, i'm a new users of NAV 2015. I'd like to understand what I have to design infrastructure for the installation of the new ERP. I'd to design an architecture with  an sql server and another application, my network is an virtual infrastructure and there are 25 users. This scenario is correct or no?

Please verify the requirements in the below link, these are minimum requirements so if you have other applications running on the same server i recommend you to with larger space and memory.

Please do refer the below link to find about the System Requirements for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 201

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../dd301054(v=nav.80).aspx

Always have good memory (RAM) and hard disk space also keep your database log file and data file in separate harddisks it will increase the performance of your system.

thanks for your response. in your opinion what environment is best to install dynamics nav 2015: single server or dual server? I have a virtual infrastructure and have no problems of space or memory.

Single server would be good and enough because it is easy to manage and very easy to setup also.  This is my personal viewpoint.

Single server can be enough for small implementations and for testing purposes. For serious production environment, I suggest dual server. It is a bit more complex environment for setup, but it is much better.

    Hi,

As mentioned by Aleksander, the dual server mechanism is complex, but it's far better if you are planning to expand the usage of NAV, most likely by adding more users etc.

    Best Regards,

Well, all will depends how many processors and Ram you will be capable to assign to every virtual server.

The architecture can include 3 servers (RTC, Web Services and SQL), two (RTC and SQL) or one (all ). Again all will depends how powerful is your virtual environment.

All your users will be connecting through the same LAN, WAN?

If e-shop is involved, are you planning to host on cloud or onsite?

If all 25 users are connecting through the same LAN, I will recommend  to start with One single server.

Once you evaluate the performance, you can expand and move the SQL db to a second server.

Hi, yes all 25 users are connecting through the same LAN. I understand that the easy way is the one single server, but in all official documents or MOC certified Microsoft, i read this environment is recommended for test or development. I think to do a three tiers and for the SQL server i assign 4 CPU and 24 Gb of RAM and the same for the NAV Server .

    What do u think?

One server will do it.  Use a combination of RAIDs for max performance using 15K RPM Hard Drives. For more info on RAIDS check www.thegeekstuff.com/.../raid-levels-tutorial. You can expand to more servers if is need it in a future.

Don't forget have a second server for backup (if budget is available) and also make your daily backups using tapes and take them off site every night (keep safe your db against fire, catastrophes, robbery, damage, etc.).

Implementing remote synchronization is another option to keep your business running in case of any incident related with your datacenter.
