
a customer recently asked me what is involved to change from a FIFO accounting method to Standard Cost in Dynamics NAV 4.0 SP1.
beyond changing the costing method on the item card - what other considerations should this customer have?
is a full inventory update required?
financial changes?
etc?

Firstly standard Nav will not let you change the costing method of an item if it has any item ledger entries. The impact of what you're trying can be far-reaching as costs are stamped on order/despatches/receipts and of course the value of your stock. I would advise you to talk this through with someone with costing experience as it's not a simple task.
