Create a Workflow to clear a Read-Only Field

I am trying to create an on-demand workflow that clears a field if the contact is inactive. The field I am trying to clear is read-only so I am not able to select it. Does anyone know a workaround I can use to accomplish this?

    Hi,

This can be implemented with Power Automate Flow.
In my testing, the Email field is set to read-only.

List rows expression: statecode eq 1
This expression filters out inactive contact records.

Provides a null value for the read-only field Email explicitly.

I am new to CRM and not familiar with the process you are using. This is the process I am using, and when I got to "Set Properties", I cannot select the read-only fields that I want to clear.

    Hi,

I'm afraid it's not possible to achieve your goals through workflow.
I am also unable to select read-only fields in the Update Record step of the workflow.

You can also do this with Business Rule.
When you open a contact record, Business Rule first checks to see if the current contact record is inactive.
If it is, the specific read-only field is cleared.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li
