Master planning

Hi,

Recently i came across a situation which i fail to understand.

Setup is

On hand =0

Product:  Product- Cov:Req

Purchase lead time: 7 days

Negative days = 0

Positive days =0

Dynamic negative days checked

No delivery date control

A sales order exist on 27/10/ 2016; Todays date is 24/10/2016

A PO exist on the date 2/11/2016.

Coverage code = Requirement

When run the Master plan, i get the desired result, where the existing PO is cancelled and Planned PO is generated on requirement date 27/10/2016, but delayed by 4 days equal to the Purchase lead time.

Question: when i look into the planned order start date, it says start date as 20/10/2016 and end date as 27/10/2016. But on the net requirements, it says that Planned PO's requirement date as 27/10/2016 sames as the SO date. Action says the planned PO is postponed by 4 days. I dont understand why it has to be dealyed by 4 days inspite of the start date of the order is 20th, which is 7 days back from requirement date? Please can anyone please forward your views onthis.

First off... Increase your positive days to be equal to your horizon. That would take the existing order in to account and be satisfied.

The positive and negative days is how far your plan should look to fulfill the orders, so if the positive days are 0 you will always get a suggested cancel+new situation. Negative days are similar, but looks forward in time on the estimated delivery day of an existing order and including it in that one. Effectively making you accept items are late, you have slack or possibility to advance a shipment.

The "start date" is when the system would preferably made you perform the required action to reach your demand. The delta between "today" (when the plan ran) and the action date/start date is the delay and this is used to calculate the futures date (now in AX7 called "Delays").

    Thanks for the Reply,

With respect to the negative day time fence, since the SO falls on the 27/10/2016 which actually between the lead time, as considered by the system from today's date (24/10/2016) until 31/10/2016 (the Purchase lead time ). Hence the system shows that the planned order is delayed by 4 days to that is the item will be available on 31/10/2016.  Note: Dynamic negative days is unchecked. I don't understand one point why the system uses the lead time, inspite of the planned be being available on the demand date, why is it getting delayed by 4 days equal to the Purchase lead time.

If I understand you correctly, you would expect your demand on the 31.10.2016 to be pegged against the order that is due to delivered? It will not because your positive days are 0 which in effect is saying to not take any future deliveries in to account and create a new one no matter what is actually ordered. Then it also says: Delete the existing one and replace it with a new order that has a late delivery.

No. Since the positive days are 0, the system cant take orders behind today to fulfill the demand. Similarly negative days are zero, hence system cannot look into future to fullfill the demand. As far as the the blogs i have read, if the negative days < purchase lead time, why the system uses the lead time days from today to evaluate the scenario. Please let me know if you still cannot get my question.

I might not see the whole picture or get all the moving parts in focus.

I assume your last question is: Why does the system use Lead time and why the result (4 days delayed (7-3)) is equal to the lead time?

I assume when you say "planned order", you mean "firmed order". Planned orders are reset when running master plan, unless they're locked and as we've discussed, no firmed orders are taken in to account as no positive or negative days are set...

Oh... I believe the positive days are relative to the demand date for the requirement, not the date you're running the plan...
