Security Key Report

ReportReport
Posted on by 140

I need to be able to see all the security keys in my system and what level of security each user group has against each one. Ideally I'd like to see all security keys in a list and then each user group permissons against each one.

At the moment the only way I can see of doing this is via administration -> Reports -> Security -> User Groups Security. Considering that I have quite a few user groups in various companies this is a very time consumming task.

Is there a way of getting this information out other than the user group security report for each user group and exporting to excel etc. I've tried to look at the database table to see if I can write a query but can't see the security system tables.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Regards

Karen

    Hi Karen,

You can find that information in table AccessRightsList.  This table lists each security key and its access type per user group.  Note that any access type of full control is not stored in the table.

    Kind regards.

    Thanks Kent,

How can I link the id to the security key ? Can I get a list of the security keys and their associated ids out of the system ? Why wouldn't it display full control ?

    Regards

You can see the list of relations in the help menu for that table.  Found in AOT > System Documentation > Tables > AccessRightsList.

Documentation is few and far between on security since these are for the most part all system tables / classes.  I believe element name in AccessRightsList is key.  You can also take a look at SysSecurity classes to see how the security tree is built and how data is associated.  It does not display full control since the system does not need to do anything to enforce security on the keys, so it doesn't need to store it in the first place.

I would also suggest looking at class SysUserGroupSecurity which is what is run when you run the security group report you mentioned.

EDIT:  You can also run the security group report and save it as a text file so you can dump it into excel.  Initial setup will take some time but after that you should have quick access to all the permissions in an excel file saved on your computer.  Might be an easier solution then coming up with your own report.

    Thanks Kent,

I think I'll persevere with building the spreadsheet.
