Hi there, I am new to Dynamics GP. Is there a way to get the logged in username from Dynamics GP. FYI, I am using Dynamics GP 2010 and Custom report using crystal report. Need to somehow include the username to track whoever generated it. What could be the best approach. Thanks

GP does not have an integration to Active Directory which is what most reporting tools are tied to.

Within Crystal Reports, you have a "Special Fields" area where you can pull current Active Directory user information to display on the report.

Based on this, you could either Formula Field in Crystal Reports for this (an IF THEN ELSE for your users) or you could create a table for mapping the GP User ID to an Active Directory User ID for this information.

That has always been a very controversial topic regarding the GP Login and Active Directory. As some experts consider that a requirement while other could see this as no added value.

The answer relies above in Mr. Mike's post, there is currently no integration between the GP Login and Active Directory. I have came across this product, by Fast Path, which Sync GP Passwords with Active Directory and provide the desired "single sing on" target.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi,

There's also the infamous 'remember username and password' option in Dynamics GP2010!

    Hi Sanju,

I'm not sure if you want the Active Directory username or the GP Username.

I'm not a Crystal expert but if the GP Username would work and you are using SQL queries for your reports data sources then you should be able to use the suser_name() function in the SQL query to return the user who is running the report.

Additionally, you could add a cross reference table to link the SQL username (which GP uses) to the AD username if you needed.

    Hope this helps.

In crystal report you can use special fields.

Thanks for the answer. I got it figured by using Dynamics Global.
