i am looking at the custtable in visual studio for DAX 365 and it shows the dataareaid as DAT , how do i change it to view the other legal entity that i want?

You click on the one you have now "DAT" and then you will get a selection list next to it where you can choose the one you want.
The easiest way I can see if you may want to change the default company of your admin user in system.
Another way is to using table browser in UI, like you use ax normally. Also there are chrome extensions developed by someone, that can be used.

i have already done that and nothing happened, does that mean the user which i am logged in with doesn't have access to do this ?
Yes i would think so.
but i am a system administrator :(
Ok then you need to do like Sohaib said, and change default company of your admin user in system.

i am only going to the table because i want to be find a way to migrate my customers
By saying that I mean browse AX table browser as normal user. Have a look at next thread. Also take a look of chrome extensions
