Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a way to configure pre-header text in emails that are delivered? The ask is for a brief description of what's in your email, shown as a preview in most inboxes next to the subject line.
From Google: Preview text is the short summary text that immediately follows the subject line when viewing an email in an inbox. This text is not displayed in your email's layout. This advanced feature allows you to maximize inbox space and can help increase the open rate of your email.
Thanks for any help,
Lynn
Pascal - That works only if the initial content in your email is what you want to include in the preheader. Many people will have variations on logos, view as webpage, add as safe sender, date etc in their header bar and the best use for the preheader is to add specific contextual context or prompts that add weight to the subject.
I've heard (as of mid-Dec) that this will be coming in the April release so fingers crossed it makes it.
We just use the standard HTML addition + whitespace hack within our team for the time being, but for our less confident users it will make a huge difference to just be able to customise this via a field.
In fact, if I well understand your question, it's easy to do and doesnt really requieres a specific feature.
In the following example, as you can see, there is the subject line and the top header of the email content. This one is always used as the pre-header text.
The result in my mail box looks like that:
As you can see, I've the subject line + the pre header.
Is it what you are looking for?

Hi Lynn,
Whatever text is added the top of the marketing email will be added as the preheader. I have written a blog post on customising the preheader here.

You can search this idea in the list and then hit like to increase the value of the change.
Thanks
You can create a div in the html near the top of the email and set the div inline style to not be visible. This will hide it in the email but it will still show as a preheader if it's the first piece of text content ( i put mine right below the css).
eg:
Was an Idea submitted? I need this too.
Hi Lynn,
This isn't available today but this isn't the first time that I have heard this ask. I suggest that you add this to our Ideas Portal to get community support. I will also pass this along and document it with Shailesh and we should discuss next week.
Thanks,
Megan
