How to find the location history from an item via inventserial using x++

Hey all,

I got asked to find a way to create a nightly delta of items that leave our quality control back into our primary warehouse. I thought I had a nice way to do that but I've ran into a bit of a roadblock on it as it appears there isn't an easy way to find/track back when an item went to quality control warehouse and then once it was passed and ended, when it transitions back to it's primary warehouse it uses the inventdim already created from when the item was registered. So if you turn on modified date/time for the inventdim & inventserial tables it will show that the item was created and put into the primary warehouse location first (loc 1) but quality control picks it up and moves it to quarantine (loc 2) and once quarantine is passed it moves to quality control out of quarantine (loc3). Once you end the quality control order it's location is now back at loc 1, which is nice, but if you timestamp those locations loc1 was first and the next two where after it.

So for example:

loc 1 - @ day 1 09:00am

loc 2 - @ day 2 11:00am

loc 3 - @ day 2 3:00pm

two days later they end the quality order (loc 3) and it now says it's back at loc 1... But there is no way to show that it was moved within the last 24 hours from loc 3 to loc 1. At least none that I can find yet.  One possible way my coworker mentioned we should look at is maybe tracking when the quality order itself ended and then flagging that as it being back in the warehouse afterwards. But if you don't post to an invoice, would that be correct? Reason I ask is I think it doesn't release them to the warehouse until after you post, right?

Maybe I'm all sorts of confused here! Any ideas or thoughts would gratefully be appreciated.  I'm just trying to find a way to track it like:

loc 1 @ day 1 09:00am (initial item created in primary warehouse)

---- item picked up by the system  as one requiring quality control & quarantine ---

loc 2 @ day 1 09:00am *system generated* (quarantine inside quality control warehouse)

---- quarantine passed sets it back to quality warehouse ---

loc 3 @ day 2 03:00pm (quality control warehouse)

 ---- quality control ended ----

loc 4 @ day 4 09:00am (returned to primary warehouse from quality control)

As long as there are actual inventory transfers happening, you will find all that you need in InventTrans.
