Sales order Holds

Hello,

Whenever a new sales order is created (in Sales and Marketing or the Call Center) I want to put an automatic hold on the sales order.
Is it possible or is it necessary to think about a customization?

We are using AX2012 R3 CU 10

Thank you

    Hi Juanid,

Thanks for your answer, the client has discarded this option and is evaluating a customization.

    Hi Maxi,

in addition to the possibilities explained by Andre there is a feature available called „sales order hold“. You can find some details here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamicsax-2012/appuser-itpro/work-with-sales-order-holds

if I‘m not wrong it is also possible to setup automatic hold when a sales order is created. If not it might be a small modification.

    Hi Maximiliano Martinez,

By default we cannot put an automatic hold on a new sales order. The question is do you want to put hold for specific cutomer group or Region?  What exactly is the criteria/business requirements to hold all new orders?

As a work around solution, you can set default order type to "Journal" in parameters and whenever a business want to release any order, just go to that sales order and change the type to "Sales Order" and process an Order.

    RE: Sales order Holds

    Hi Maximiliano,

Usually, companies will use the 'Journal' order type for this purpose and then change it to a 'sales order' when it has been reviewed. In the parameters you can setup the default sales order type to have all orders on 'Journal'.

When the order is a 'journal', there are no inventory transactions created. If you need e.g. reservations and the order hold, then you can achieve it with a customization.
