Sharing Bank accounts among different Legal entities

Hi Guys

I have a scenario:

In the cash and bank management > Bank accounts, If I select a bank account, I added a field which has a lookup of all the legal entities present.

If I select a specific legal entity and save the form, that particular bank account should be shown in the selected legal entity's Bank accounts List.

I am a fresher, so a detailed explanation will really be helpful to me.

    Hi Bhaswanth,

The title and your description seems to be contradictory. The title mentions that you want to share a bank account across legal entities, but the body mentions one other legal entity.

If you need a bank in a single legal entity, create the bank account in the correct company. If you have a bank account that is owned by e.g. legal entity A, but you are receiving money from legal entity B, you don't need to share them, you can then use centralized payments. This  means that there will be an intercompany balance created as only one legal can be owner of a bank account.

You can find some information on the next pages:

    Hi Bhaswanth Koka,

Could you kindly explain a bit of such requirement and why it is expected in this way?

Suppose; you have a bank account which is common in 2 legal entities. Then you can maintain the same bank just by creating it separately in each entity.

Even if you already build up such functionality as you mentioned; below concerns will come in front.

--- Are you actually creating same bank account in other entity just by selecting that legal entity in Bank accounts form? For example; you have a bank account BNK already available in legal entity A. Now, once you select entity B in this form; do you mean to say that, bank BNK will be created automatically in entity B?

--- In case if you want to create bank in other entity using this customized field; how you can be sure that this bank BNK will have the same currency and group in entity B as in entity A? Just assume; bank group in entity B is not same as maintained in entity A. Or is it like everything is same; only bank account has to create and replicate the master data from A to B?

--- Is the Chart of accounts are shared? For example; in above case, are you bringing the same main account from entity A to B? If not, then how you are selecting the controlling account in this bank in entity B once it is created there? Are you manually selecting it in entity B?

As André Arnaud de Calavon mentioned; if the goal is for centralized payment, then you can use the standard feature as he highlighted in links.

Would like to know if you kindly share some more information on this.

    Best regards,
    Sourav Dam

Sourav Dam, Actually one of my senior consultant has given me this scenario and asked me to work on it. Nothing like a business requirement,  but just to understand how to write business logic.

I don't think that requirement makes sense. Records from Legal entity A are visible only in company A. If you create the bank account in company A and select it to be used in company B, should it be visible in both companies? What about company C? The requirement seems to go against the framework level design and mechanisms of AX, so it doesn't seem like good thing to implement. You must always understand and respect the technical realities of AX.

And as already pointed out, Bank account is dependent of many other tables which would need to be checked as well.

You can share records between companies, using Virtual companies. But since this feature is not supported in D365FO, you might not want to use it in AX2012 because it will make the upgrade more difficult.

I suggest you go back to the person who gave you this task, and discuss the points you learned from us.
