Hi Guys, can I know if Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU12 supports SQL server SP1 or not?

what I got from MS document is, it supports SQL 2016 with some Notes for MDM.

over net there are few folks already have installed CU12 with SQL 2016 SP1.

while I am doing so with SQL 2016 SP1, I am getting reporting extension installation error "Version string portion was too short or too long", then the installation rolled back and failed.

any help, much appreciated.

I am contacting to MS, if I get any will post here.

Regards,

yes.sudhanshu

RTM version is supported, but there is no compatibility news about service pack releases. Even the official release has limitations for some areas of AX.

    blogs.technet.microsoft.com/.../announcing-support-for-office-2016-and-sql-server-2016-with-ax-2012-r3-and-r2

So the answer is: it is not officially supported, but some components might work.

    Hi Sahoo,

    According to requirement document

"SQL Server 2012 SP1 Management Objects (SMO) package needs to be installed to use the Reporting Services extensions feature with SQL 2016 for AX 2012 R3 CU11"

    Regards,

    Hassan

    Hi Sahoo,

You have installed AX 2012 R3 CU12 with or without SQL 2016 SP1.

I am trying AX 2012 R3 CU12 with SQL 2016. But in MS system requirement document they have mentioned AX 2012 R3 CU11 with SQL 2016. Please share the Hotfix number. Kindly need your help on the same.

    Regards,

Greetings, everyone! So there is likely some confusion as to whether or not IDMF is supported in SQL Server 2016.  Some time in August of 2016, a blog was published about this topic.  While this information held true at the time of its publication, there is new information surrounding this. In order for IDMF to work with SQL Server 2016, we must download IDMF version 2.0.37.0 from LCS.  It is this updated version of IDMF that will be compatible with SQL Server 2016.

Install Microsoft SQL Management Sharing Object SP1, and then restart your server.

    hope answer your question
