Form Matching strategy

Hello,

I have a marketing form that creates leads and contact.

My matching strategy for both lead and contact is an email address and I realize that form will update close leads and inactive contact if there are any.

Is there any way to control this and make sure matching will look at active contacts and leads only?

Thank you,

Elly

    Hello Mauro,

Yes, that would be perfect solution for me.

    Thank you,

    Thanks Elly,

The best would be to build this into the product. As there are workarounds possible, but they are quite convoluted, unfortunately.

So the behavior will be: our matching strategies will always ignore inactive records. this should address your requirements, correct?

    Thanks again

    RE: Form Matching strategy

    Hello Mauro,

Marketing forms update closed leads when customers submit a new request.

for example, I had a lead that registered last year and it was lost. The same person registered last month again because now she can have our product but my form didn't create the new lead and it just updated the old lost lead.

Also, I have the same problem with contact, if it finds the matching contact in the inactive stage it will update that.

Most of my journeys start with form submission and since marketing is updating inactive contact my customer won't receive the email because contact is inactive.

I was wondering if there is a way that I can say don't match anything with inactive records.

    Thank you,

    Elly

    HI all,

thanks for the great product discussion,

we would like to understand the request. This is about adding inactive (contacts or any entity) and closed (for leads) to the possibilities for defining lead matching strategies, correct?

    thanks again

If you think it’s a bug then raise a ticket with Microsoft support - I suspect they will tell you it’s ‘as per design’ whether the design is right or not is subjective. I fully understand why it would be far from ideal but if you don’t get this feedback to the right people/channels then nothing will get sorted

Thank you Amey, I posted the idea. experience.dynamics.com/.../

I think this is more like a bug than an idea :D

I really thought this would be possible but it turns out its not

A possible workaround is that after you deactivate a contact or close a lead, amend the email address to be z_ before the email (or something similar) so that it cannot match that record...

Also definitely post this on the ideas forum and share the link - you have my vote! experience.dynamics.com/.../
