Users in trusted domain in Dynamics NAV 2013 R2

Hello dear experts! :)

My question is quite straightforward I'd say. Is an scenario possible where the same NAV server contains users from different domains with trust relationships between each other? Or does the NAV server only allow Windows authentication with the users in the same domain as the machine NAV is on?

Thank you very much!

Refer to below article. It'll help you.

Thank you Sandeep for the answer :)

Seems that in that article the author suggests touching the setup for SQL Server, which I believe is against the whole idea of the NAV service tier (managing users and connections).

Is there a way of accomplishing this by not modifying the SQL Server?

Yes, you can do it without SQL with the help of below link.

Thank you very much for your input, again :)

By doing the way you are suggesting it would completely override the authentication with Active Directory (leaving it useless) and would do it with the certificates method (NavUserPassword). That is not what I am looking for. I am trying to get the server to authenticate the users from different domains, with trust relationships with each other.

I don't think so that it's possible without SQL server because delegation required from database server. So if you want to access nav server from mutiple domain, you have to use below method.

    For windows authentication-

    community.dynamics.com/.../access-a-microsoft-dynamics-nav-server-through-multiple-domains.aspx

    For Nav Password Authentication-

if there is a full trusted relationship between the 2 domain, it should be no problem to create users from both domains in the same nav database. we have a customer, which uses that possibility with nav 5.0
