Printing Case Label & Pallet Label in D365

Posted on by 637

Hi,

I have a scenario wherein I have print the both Case labels and Pallet labels at the time of Production Order reporting. The case labels has to print the catch weight of the item. The actual weight has to flow from scale into D365.  We all know integration with scale requires customization, but is there a way to print both Case Labels and Pallet labels?  Or do we have to look at the label printing software with XML based integration?

Regards,

Narasimha

Well Blue Horseshoe's AWAX offers some label printing enhancements of it's own, but I don't know if any are relevant in a Production RaF scenario.

In any case, I think you might be covered in standard AX (until you mention the CW qty part).

If you do the RaF using a mobile device, you can configure the menu item to print labels. This will cause a label (or labels) to be triggered at the time you do the RaF.

If you don't want to use a mobile device to do the RaF, doing the RaF on the AX client will create Putaway work. It is possible to add a Print step into the putaway, such that the label is printed when the Putaway work is processed.

Either way, the 'print' instruction will cause AX to create a record in the licence plate label table, and throw this record at the document routing functionality. You can use any field/value in the licence plate label table in the command that is sent to the printer. And by having two lines in the 'Document routing printers' section of the 'Document routing' form, I think you can trigger the creation of two different label prints at the same time.

It looks like there is a command in ZPL to control the number of copies; for the case labels you could simply set AX to send the RaF quantity along with the 'number of copies' command.

However, I think the fact that each case will have it's own weight might pose a problem. The way Catch weight works, it is possible that AX will not remember the weight of each case; only the weight of all the cases. You might want to engage with Blue Horseshoe here to discover the possibilities.

    Guy,

Yes Catch weight is a problem in Advance WH, we are trying to work with Blue Horshoe on that. But the other question I have is, When we do the RAF, we can print the Pallet License plate label. A Pallet contains 240 cases and we need to print the case labels at the same time.

How can we achieve this in standard D365? What I have done in couple of implementations is integration with Nice label printing software and that was in AX2012 R3.

Are you hoping to use the 'Document routing' functionality in the Warehouse management module? If so, did you get round the problem that catch weight is not compatible with the Warehouse module?
