Export to Excel - Password

Hi all,

I have an issue with exporting from NAV 2013 R2 to excel ... all users are set to login with a username and password (DB login) but when they export to excel, NAV asks again for username & password. It does not happen to all users but a few of them. All users have the same version of excel (2016) and of course same version of NAV. Any ideas how to remove the step of having to insert the username and password again for those few users, please?

Thanks!

    This is basically duplicate thread.

Please check the link below and let me know, if this solves your problem.

Another solutions, I could derive at is reinstalling the office in those users machine, as I could see many posts where the authentication issue is resolved either after NAV upgrade or after office update. So basically, your excel add-on might not be configured properly which can be resolved by setting up proper trust setting.

Hi Preethan Poojari, thanks for the above.

I had already seen the link you mentioned above, but this does not solve the issue primarily because the users in my case sign in using database login.

As for you solution, how can I set up the 'proper trust setting'? I have tried to do it in the Trust Center of Excel but couldn't manage .

Would be grateful if you help me out with this :)

    Thanks!

Hi. I am facing the same situation. But in my case it does not prompt for the authentication input. It just throws this error : The specified username and password did not pass the authentication. Any solution? I'll Appreciate much

    hi

It sounds like the issue you are experiencing might be related to the user's permissions in NAV and Excel. Here are a few things you can try:

Check User Permissions: Verify that the users who are experiencing the issue have the necessary permissions in NAV to export to Excel. Make sure that they have the "Export to Microsoft Excel" permission enabled in their user role.

Verify NAV and Excel Compatibility: Make sure that both NAV 2013 R2 and Excel 2016 are compatible and up-to-date. Check to see if there are any updates or hotfixes available for either application.

Try Clearing Excel Credentials: In Excel, go to the Data tab and click on "From Other Sources" and then "From Microsoft Query." From there, choose the data source that is causing the issue and click on "Options." In the "Connection Properties" dialog box, click on "Reset Credentials" and then enter the user's NAV login credentials.

Check NAV ODBC Connection: Verify that the ODBC connection used by NAV is set up correctly on the affected users' computers. If the ODBC connection is not set up correctly, it could be causing the issue.

Try a Different Export Method: If none of the above steps work, try using a different export method, such as exporting to a CSV file or using a third-party tool to export data from NAV to Excel.

I hope one of these solutions resolves the issue you are experiencing!
