HR Manager Holiday Approval - Setting Reporting Manager as Approver

Hi All

We have had a request where we need to set, for a certain manager, the ability to approve holidays if the users manager isn't in.

Essentially, my manager is not in and a holiday request has been submitted, what we are looking to do is allow the managers manager to receive the email and approve the holiday request. Is there a specific setting within the system we need to enable for this to happen and if we did, would it be for all manager or can it be selective?

Thanks

You can use Delegation for this. If the Approver sets up their manager as a delegate, then turns on delegation when they are not in, the request will go to that delegate.

RE: HR Manager Holiday Approval - Setting Reporting Manager as Approver

    Hi Steve,

There is a role called Absence manager in D365 HR module.

    1. In the System administration workspace, select Feature management.
    2. On the Feature management tab, enable the Absence manager to manage leave feature.

Then you need to define a custom hierarchy (Create a position hierarchy type that is named Leave) and assign the Absence manager role to the users who you want to have the ability to approve holidays.

For more steps, you can refer to this MS Doc:

Configure the Absence manager role - Human Resources | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

The absence manager can approve the time-off request in the Leave management workspace.

If you want to receive the email of leave requests, you need to set up workflow notifications.
