4 variants of Consent Point Consent

Posted on by 25

Hi,

at this moment we have 4 Contact Point Consent tables. Is there any documentation available about that?

One is deprecated, Two is used for the current Consent, but what about the other two.

It looked like three was used for Real Time Marketing Forms when in preview, but at this moment no clue were they were used.

    Hi Eline,

The plan is for us to continue checking to see if updates are made to the version 2 and version 3 tables once we have moved to version 4 and continue to migrate any data sent to v2 and v3 for a period of time to avoid breaking changes. Eventually, we will need to deprecate the v2 and v3 tables, but we will provide sufficient notice for that.

Thanks and let me know if you have further questions,

    Will

Thanks for this information Will, that helps a lot.

Most important now is that not something will break down after an update.

I currently use a flow to update the consent from the bulk email field if there is a change.

    Hi Eline,

At the moment, all the not deprecated contact point consent tables are in active use. We’re in a transition period where we have three different versions of the same table in use as we roll out new real-time marketing consent features to GA. Unfortunately, the versioning of the tables is not reflected well in the UI. We’re looking into how we can improve this given the confusing experience.

You're correct that Two is used for current consent and that Three was used temporarily for the Forms preview. The Fourth will be used with the new consent features, but as of today, it is unused. We will migrate data to the new table automatically once those features are released.

    Thanks,

    Will Genge, PM, Microsoft
