Hello.
I am able to log in to a MS Dynamics 7 site from my home (Dell, Windows 7, IE 8, RoadRunner cable, wireless), but I am not able to log my hours in Timecard Entry. (This is the only need I have with the site.)
I click on "Project" --> "Time" --> and then an in-process time sheet, and that is when the problem starts. The timesheets won't open. There is no error message. My employer's IT department has done remote trouble shooting via WebEx to no avail. I have tried using my wife's Mac iBook, same ISP and wireless, but no luck.
I am able to log my time from work on a Windows XP, IE 7, no wireless.
Does anyone know if it's the wireless that is botching this up? Everything's fine except the time sheets won't pop up.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello Jana.
I'm little intrigued by the resolution. Is this something that IE has an issue with? If you dont mind; can you please ellaborate on the what and how of this fix?
TIA
Dear Sampson,
Hello again. If you go to this key:
HKEY_local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform
You will see something like the below (which you have confirmed)
.NET CLR 1.1.4322
.NET CLR 2.0.50727
.NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152
.NET CLR 3.5.30729
InfoPath.2
If I Count every character in this list (all numbers, letters, and punctuation) I sum up LESS than 255 characters....your list total count is more. Remove something from your list to bring the string to less than 255.
If I had to remove something from my list I'd toss out inforpath.2 and .Net 1.1xxxx. (for instance)
Best Regards,
Jana
Hi Jana,
I am unsure of what this means: "The string total is likely over 255 characters, you have to remove some of those entries." I'm not sure where I would go to see this string total, and once there, I would not be certain which entries to delete. This is probably way over my head - is it something I could do with instructions, and not goof it all up?
Thank you for your response.
Dear Sampson
Anyway, I went to the registry location you described, and there are 13 files in that Post platform folder. I'm not sure if that gives you any useful information, sorry.
The string total is likely over 255 characters, you have to remove some of those entries.
Best Regards,
Jana
Hi there!
Ok. I checked something: The Time.aspx has the new button that calls NewTimecard() javascript function.
function NewTimecard() { //Get the current week-ending date selected var sWeekEnd = form1.firstWeek.options[form1.firstWeek.selectedIndex].value; PublishTimecard("NEW", "NEW", sWeekEnd, '') //Refresh window window.navigate(window.location.href); }
If I understood correctly, you are using only TC function on this portal correct? Does any other module (if you have one) works okay? May be there are javascripts errors that are prevening from running or are blocked? When you come to this page or click on "New", do you see little yellow exclamation icon on the left hand side of the status bar of your IE?
May be you have already explored all these but thought might mention here.

Hi, Nayan.
I tried clearing out the temp files early on, but it did not change the problem.
My employer's IT department did a WebEx session with me, and we tried to make sure all the ActiveX controls were installing correctly, and not being blocked, but we didn't figure it out. We accepted a good certificate, and added the sit to Trusted Sites, and all the obvious stuff, but never could get a time sheet to open after clicking on an existing one (created for me by someone else), or trying to create a new one.
Everything works fine, except that the actual time sheets will not open. I don't get any pop-up errors or any install ActiveX prompts, or anything like that. It just sits there and doesn't do anything. It's very odd.
Not sure but you may want to clear up all temporary files and objects from your IE Tools -> Internet Options. Then when you browse to your BP 4 portal, make sure you install all the controls that the portal prompts you for. Ignoring this installs is known to result in such behaviours like yours.

I went to the link you kindly provided me, but the download manager told me the update was not applicable to my machine. Below are answers to your two questions.
"Can you run IE8 in IE7 compatability mode?" I tried this but it did not resolve the problem.
"Can you create a "new" timecard from this machine?" No, I can't create a new time card, or open an old one. When I click on New, or try to open an old time card, nothing happens - no error message or anything. The time cards, new or old, just don't open up. It's weird.
Thanks again for your help,
Sampson
Hi Jana,
I just spent 1/2 an hour trying to figure out how to attach a screen shot to this message, but can't figure it out. (?)
Anyway, I went to the registry location you described, and there are 13 files in that Post platform folder. I'm not sure if that gives you any useful information, sorry.
I will look at the link you gave me for uninstalling the work around next. I'll let you know what comes of it.
Thank you for responding - I really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Sampson
