Fail to import vendor catalog. 'Unknown data item ProductSubtype.'

I'm using AIF service to import vendor catalog. But I found that after the AIF inbound service was executed, none of the catalog products were imported. And in the AIF service exception form, there's a new error said 'Unknown data item ProductSubtype.'

Any ideas? Thanks.

Excellent question In the Application Object Tree (AOT), expand the Forms node.

Expand the form that you want to enable for workflow, and then expand the Designs node.

In the Designs node, right-click the Design child node, and then click Properties.

Please check whether the data container type allows for this data type, Product subtype is enum  - it has only three value 1. Product(1) 2. Product master(2) 3. product variant(3).

Please check in AfDataContainerDescriptor class method get_AllowUnknownDataItems regarding data type validation.

It might be possible input having different data type from file

    Thanks Bhaskar,

I checked the method get_AllowUnknownDataItems in class AfDataContainerDescriptor, and found this method just simply returns a Boolean variety. How do I tell the data type validation?

Jason, this is not a AOT question. Thanks.

If your XML having tag with ProductSubtype and you are not passing required value, you could get this type of error. Please remove the tag from your XML and try to import.

For enum it won't consider default value.

There's no Product subtype node or attribute in that xml....

    Thanks though.

    Andrew,

There is some good news for those struggling with this issue - User is not authorized to update a record in table 'VendTable'. This has been fixed in Hot fixes released for AX 2012 .  Apart from fix for above issue, there are fixes for some other issues in areas like  Fixed Assets, General Ledger etc. Total 47 fixes in different areas were provided with maximum of 10 fixes for 'Client\Office Add-ins'.

If a data item is unknown then the containsDataItem method returns false.

    Hi Andrew,

Wondering if you managed to resolve this issue. And if you could share the solution?

    Thanks.

Just an update... for this issue in our environment, the Retail configuration key was enabled, but we don't actually need it. So disabling the key resolved the issue for us.
