How to prevent users from using Tell Me or My Settings functions?

We have a case where we want to limit users ability to access things they should not be able to. Kind of like Kiosk mode for Ipads in airports. Through Profiles (Roles), Permissions and admin customized pages we are able to very narrowly define the limited set of screens and actions the warehouse worker can get into. However, if they do a Tell Me on Chart of Accounts they can still get into it. Rather than try and figure out all the places and things you don't want them to use Tell Me for, can we just turn off the button? Same for the My Settings. I hide most of the elements on the page but cannot stop the page from being accessed completely.

I have the same question (0)

Limiting Tell me or My settings, could be a good candidate for IDEAS site https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/

There is no way to limit Web Client functionality in that sense.

You could think of using APIs to create your own Kiosk facade and give users the only access they need.

if you disallow chart of accounts page in the permission set, is it then possible to view that page for the warehouse employees?

@duilio_tacconi: i have added that topic in ideas.

    goto experience.dynamics.com/.../

please change titel, i missed the "m" in "Tell me". although i am the creator, i cannot edit the idea text. thx.

could you please contact the admin of ideas to add the ability for the creator to edit the idea text?

Yes, that works for the example I cited but I was speaking more broadly. Rather than having to figure out all the things to turn off, why not just have the ability to turn of the search function. That would make life so much easier.

Me neither. IDEAS page is maintained directly by US team.

You might think of contacting Microsoft through https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/

Remove or Hide Control Panel Applets. Type gpedit. msc in Windows Start Menu Search Bar, hit Enter, to open the Group Policy Editor > User Configuration. Expand Administrative Templates > Click Control Panel > Show only specified Control Panel Applets > Properties.

If you enable this policy setting, you must choose which level of diagnostic data is sent to Microsoft. Your choices are Required, Optional, or Neither.

If you choose Required, the minimum data necessary to help keep Office secure, up-to-date, and performing as expected on the device it’s installed on is sent to Microsoft.

If you choose Optional, additional data that helps make product improvements and provides enhanced information to help detect, diagnose, and remediate issues is sent to Microsoft. If you choose to send optional diagnostic data, the required diagnostic data is also included.

If you choose Neither, no diagnostic data about Office client software running on the user’s device is sent to Microsoft. This option, however, significantly limits Microsoft’s ability to detect, diagnose, and remediate problems that your users may encounter when using Office.
