More than One UOM for Single Items

Hi every one

Is it possible to use 3 or 4 Units for single item. I am using AX 2009.

For example I am selling Pencils. 1 Cartoon contains 5 Pockets and 1 Pockets contain 5 Pencils.

Some time customer demand 1 Pocket and some customer demand 3 pencils.

Kindly Guide regarding this.

Yes you just setup the item conversion on the item record, and change the default UOM to match the requirements.

Unit of measure conversions are available for this purpose

you can proceed to following path in ax2009 for its setup

Basic >> Setup >> Units >> Unit Conversions

Unlikely the each to carton being a conversion of 5 is global, so the menu above would not be the correct one, it would be an item specific conversion I believe :-)

You can achieve in dynamics AX. please set the default unit in item master to populate in order level. Make sure your default unit should have unit conversion with respect desired selling  units.  so you can not see any difference in order level means quantity and price = line amount, but your inventory quantity will get calculated as per your unit conversion.

Make sure once you populate the order line, please check the inventory transaction for validation purpose that are you getting desired value or not.

In your solutions how would inventory be displayed? I need it to show in both the sales uom and base inventory uom. For example part 1345 has 1000lbs  Qty 10 in 10packs uom available and part 1345 has 500lbs Qty 10 in 5pacts uom. So I need to show both LBS and UOM in inventory.

That is standard from the on hand screen, you change the UOM

I suggest posting a new query if you have one, adding to a resolved post from 20+ months ago may mean people dont read your question.
