NAV and auto printing of shipping labels

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am curious whether shipping labels can be printed automatically when orders are completed, assuming certain criteria are met, such as item weights setup in our system, and assuming we can develop a connection with our current shipping software.  We currently have a shipping connection with AX but it relies on a manual barcode scan into an integration profile and processing orders on an individual basis.

We are trying to automate the shipping process for standard domestic ground shipments with the least amount of user input as necessary.

I hope I have provided enough details.

Thank you!

    Hi there

You can definitely manually integrate the SOAP or REST APIs using X++ as Hannes suggested. Alternatively if you want to save time, you can use a pre-built app like Zenkraft that connects to 45+ shipping carriers for rating, booking, tracking, cancel, pickup etc. Carriers include DHL, FedEx, UPS, USPS, Royal Mail and 45+ others. More information can be found here: zenkraft.com/dynamics-365-finance-operations-shipping

    Hi,

It's quite common to integrate with a shipping agent like UPS, FedEx or DHL.

They offer normally a WebService which can be utilized using SOAP- or REST-requests containing shipment information.

These WebServices return then a shipping-label in various formats (jpg, pdf etc.) which can be printed then.

I did such integration a couple of times.
