Customer Insights - 4 questions for the day!

  1. Removing/deleting data sets is problematic once they’ve got through the unify process. It seems impossible to remove once you’ve got through the map, match, merge process.  We get a ‘Cannot remove entity from the conflation plan because it’s used in a conflict resolution policy’. We’d like to be able to re-do things, without having to blow the whole environment away?
  2. Why do we have to go through the unify process before we can create relationships? Imagine the scenario where we have nicely formatted D365 data (i.e. a contact record, and then several entities hanging off it). We can get one data source and bring everything in. The system seems to want us to go through a unify map, match, merge process - but we don't need to right? It's already nicely linked to a customer, so there's no need to find any 'new' customers, as eveyrthing is already parent/child.
  3. How do we configure the customer card and home areas? Obviously we can add segments customer/business measures, but is that it?
  4. How can we view the customer and business measures that have multiple dimensions. Is it only through entities?

Thanks for your help!

    Hi --

Re: #2 - Today all of these pivot around the Customer entity which gets automatically generated once unification is complete, hence measures, segments etc are blocked until you complete unification.

    Thanks.

    Hi again,

Re: #2 - it looks like you can create relationships before doing the unification. However if you've already started it you can't.

Which leads to a next issue. I've now successfully created a relationship prior to unification - however i can't use measures, segments or the customer card until i do the unification process - so it doesn't actually help!

    Re: #3 - idea logged :).

    Thanks!

    Hello again,

Re: #2: Can you please share with us the environment details & a screenshot of the experience at c360help@microsoft.com, so that we can take a look to see what may be happening here.

Re: #3: Can you please request this as a new idea here

Thanks again for all the feedback.

    Thanks for the reply!

Re: #2 - if you go to relationships before you do the map, match, merge process - it has a dialog you can't escape requiring you to do the unification process. I can't see how to get around that??

Re: #3 - it's more about having control over the CI home page. Is there any intention to let people configure what they see on that page?

    Thanks again

  • RE: Customer Insights - 4 questions for the day!

Hi -- great questions and thank you for the feedback.

    Please see below comments:

    1. We are actively working on improving data source management experiences and we hope to make it available in one of the upcoming monthly releases in the near future. Additionally, we are also working on environment reset experience, which will also help with this. You can track the updates we make to Customer Insights through our blog here.
    2. You can setup relationship prior to profile unification. Also, system automatically creates relationships between the entities that were used for unification & the system generated Customer entity.
    3. Customization experience of contact card and insights is through our Power* connectors. For instance you can use our PowerBI connector to create custom reports and dashboards that you can publish within your organization, you can use the PowerApps connector to create custom application and you can configure the contact card in Dynamics to create a custom profile view - as we want to make insights from CI contextually available within the business applications that business users use every day. If you have specific business needs that require home page customization then please feel free to drop an email to c360help@microsoft.com with the details and we are happy to work with you to figure out how we can enable this.
    4. You can view measures either through entities or through other export/extensibility mechanisms called out above like PowerBI, PowerApp etc.
