Inventory Closing and Production process

Posted on by 4

Hi Experts ,

In our company, we use service item for depreciation cost, direct labor cost and overhead cost , instead of using route setup.

The reason we don't use route is because we cannot update accurate cost in route regularly.

Service cost is updated in item card and our service cost is not correct (not exact cost) when we run production.

Therefore, to get correct service cost, when we do month end inventory closing, we stop all the posting into AX for all area (purchase, sales, TO, etc) for around 12 days.

the procedure of month end inventory closing are

During 12 days, 1. Finance checks all the inventory quantity and cost , 2. Run inventory recalculation , 3. Update correct service cost in Closing and Adjustment after running recalculation, 4. Run Inventory Closing 5. Do final inventory adjustment

So, operation is delayed due to this.

I feel that it is not correct way and should be do that.

Could anyone can advise the best way to reduce the timing ? or Way without stopping operations?

Thank You.

YMP

    I see.

If you know the source of the problem and can fix this correspondingly then lets verify and close this case.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for your feedback and advice.

Now found out that there is customization in warehouse setup for dimension. Due to this, the issues occur.

    Hi YMP,

You mentioned that you don't have resp. cannot update accurate cost in route regularly.

    Why is that?

Wouldn't it be better trying to get the issue fixed at the 'source' rather than trying to correct wrong transactions for almost half of the month?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
