"You can't fulfill a quantity that is greater than the line items remaining quantity" error message

I have been having issues where there are negative quantities on a serialized item, and when the user attempts to fulfill the order on the “Sales Serial Number Entry” window it displays a negative Extended Quantity and gives the “The number of selected serial numbers doesn’t equal the extended quantity”  and "You can't fulfill a quantity that is greater than the line items remaining quantity"  errors  and they are unable to close the window with either clicking the Continue or Cancel buttons it just keeps looping, and they Ctl-Alt-Del  out of GP which creates a whole new set of problems. Is there any way to prevent the looping or at least close out of the window gracefully?

    Angela,

Thanks for the quick response, I was afraid that was the answer.

I can fix the negative quantities in the tables but as you mentioned I don't think GP will recognize the change once in the window.

yeah, I know I have to determine what is causing the negative quantities and fix that issue, that's a whole  other issue.

    Thanks again

    Hi Fred,

There probably isn't a way to get out of that window gracefully. You can't change the Extended quantity because the value if not accessible. GP doesn't know what to do with that negative value.  It's not coded to. Even if you have a negative quantity on the line in SOP it still puts the value as a positive 1 in the serial window.

You might be able to get into SQL  and look at the SOP tables to see if you can see the negative field in the table anywhere.  You might be able to change it, but I just don’t know if GP will recognize it right away and let you out of the window.

I think the real issue is determining how the Extended quantity is getting to a negative value and stop that behavior. Do you have 3rd parties or custom integrations that may be affecting this?

    Thanks,

    Angela
