Since our go-live last summer, we have seen the performance of the Inventory > Inquiries > On-hand getting worse and worse. Not only the display of the form but also the export to Excel (which is needed on a regular basis by our Sales reps) are taking sometimes hours to display/run.
FYI : we are using the Warehouse Management module and AX 2012 R3 (CU10).
After searching around, we have found a couple of blogs suggesting to run several Cleaning jobs to reduce the size of the InventSum and WHSInventReserve tables; namelly :
- On-hand entries aggregation by financial dimensions
- Warehouse management on-hand entries cleanup).
Our main concern with these jobs is to understand the full impact they have on other aspects of AX.
The only detailed explanation we found on the second job (WHM on-hand) is :
A possible user impact is that if we have deleted all records for e.g. the license plate level, then the functionality where we can see that we at some point had on-hand at a license plate does not work as expected, simply because we have no on-hand entries to represent that.
This is the functionality where Quantity <> 0 is checked in the Dimension Display settings when viewing on-hand.
We didn't find much on the other job.
What we are looking at, appart from theoretical description is a first hand experience on the impact of those jobs. Doesn't anyone already ran them ? With what exact impact (negative or positive).
