Entity Field Mapping is not working

I have a custom table, and one out of the box. I created a relation between them too. The field which I want to be copied in the child form is visible on both the forms. But still,. the entity field mapping is not working. Even though the data type is same, there is no issue of length as well.

Kindly, suggest what could be the problem here?

Thanks

    Hi Fareeha,

The entity field mapping is working when we create a new record from Related tab. Have you created a child form record from the target form?

It is not working when we create a child form record directly and then select the target record from lookup column.

If you have any questions, you can also reply to let us know. Thank you!

Thanks Sayen. I haven't created a child form like this from Related tab. I created a subgrid on the same form of a custom entity. And, when i click new record for that subgrid it takes me to form of that custom entity. But the relation is present between both the entities.

    Hi Fareeha,

Do you mean that entity field mapping still not working when you create a new record from subgrid in the custom entity form?

If so, we need to check if subgrid that contains child form is in the target form.

The field can be copied from target form to child form successfully if we set right.

    Hi Sayen,

The Subgrid contains the Custom Entity. And when I click new on that subgrid, a new main form is opened. That form should be pre populated by the Parent Form field.

    Hi Fareeha,

Is the issue only happening in the custom entity? Have you tried to create a new entity and try to make a field mapping?

If the issue only happens in the entity that you asked, you need to check the plugin or code that runs in the environment affects the field mapping.

If the issue happens in all entity, I suggest you create a support ticket for professional assistance following the below procedure: Get Help + Support - Dynamics | Microsoft Docs

    Best Regards,

    Sayen Zhang
