Sales order : Manual release vs. Auto-release in terms of work breaks

Hi,

I am trying to auto-release sales orders for picking. But it looks that system behaves differently in terms of work breaks in the work template. In manual, I am able to create one work for many sales orders. But auto-release one always creates by sales order. I have tried to change some parameters but it does not work in auto-release sales order option.

Thanks for any sharing.

If 'Group by this field' is not ticked, AX is not using the field to break work. It could break work if you have anything set on the 'General' tab of the Work template.

On the Wave template, if you untick 'Process wave at release to warehouse', and then release some orders using the job, you will get one or more Shipment Waves with the status 'Created'. Do the all the orders you released (at the same time) share the same Wave?

    Hi Guy,

    Thanks for the answer.

Let me give more details: For example, I have setup at work breaks but no field is selected for "Group by this field". So I am expecting the system to group two sales orders in one work. It does in manual release to warehouse, but it does not in auto-release sales order job. Auto creates works by order all the time.

    Answers:

*** I always create two sales orders and then run the job or manually release. So there is no synchronization problem. I see the works are being created.

*** "Process wave at release to warehouse" is selected and I see the works are being created but not grouped in the way I was expecting.

I have compared several scenarios, what I see is auto-release is using the work-breaks after grouping by order all the time. For example I can not make the works grouped by item, it creates work by order and than the item.

I hope it is more clear now.

    Thanks for the time.

On your Wave template(s), do you have 'Process wave at release to warehouse' ticked? Processing the wave is what creates the work. For sales orders to have any chance of being on the same work they should be in the same Wave.

Do you have any Work break defined on your Work template(s)?

Are you creating multiple sales orders then running the auto-release job, or is the job running in between creating each order?
