Hi,
does anybody knows the difference between the option "Copy" and "Duplicate" in D365 for Finance and Supply Chain Management?
I was using "Dr.Google" and I do not see a huge difference here. According to the two links below with the option "Copy" I am able to copy a security layer and "paste" the copied security layer into a new role. With the option "Duplicate" I am able to create a clone of the currently selected security layer and give it a new name. But this is basically the same??? Where is the difference here?Is it possible that with the option "Copy" I am able to copy a specific security layer of a role - for example only the privileges, whereas with duplicate I am selecting the whole security layer of a specific role?
Thanks for any hep.

"Is it possible that with the option "Copy" I am able to copy a specific security layer of a role - for example only the privileges..." - that is my understanding, yes. However, you can post this in the F&O forum directly to get feedback from folks with much broader and deeper knowledge (like Andre!):

Hi DNC,
There is actually a difference. With 'Duplicate' you create directly a copy of a security object and you can start making changes. With copy and paste, you can e.g. copy a duty and paste it as reference on another role or copy a privilege and paste it on a duty or other role.
