Can I set up default financial dimensions for a charge used on order header?

Hi,

In our group we have a financial dimension called Product line. That is set up on the item and should be posted according to the item on the order line. Due to that I cannot setup the product line on header level on the orders. But if I have a charge on header level I want to post to product line as well. Can I set up that as a default on the charge in any way?

    Hi Anette,

You are able to set the dimension on the header, but that will cause this value to be used for all lines instead of retrieving it from the product itself. You can divide the header charge to the individual lines.

If you need a "general" product line dimension value for the header charge, you can also setup a default/fixed value on the main account itself.

    Hi Anette,

If you want to apply charges to line level and lines already have that "Financial Dimension" than it should pick up same dimension set and need not to specify separate for charges

OK so there is not any way to set the financial dimensions directly on the charge itself? It has to inherit the value from the customer header or customer account (when we are on customer header level, line level works for us)?

    Hello Anette,

I would not recommend working with header charges.

That is not only because of the financial dimension issue that you mentioned but also for subsequent analyses of your sales and the related additional charges invoiced.

As an example, if you have a header charge for freight, how can you identify later on what additional freight you charged your customers for the different products/product groups, etc.?

Header charges make the analysis just difficult and that's why I would follow Andre and Saurabh to use line charges instead.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
