Shopify Connector - Tax Amount Missing in D365 Sales Order

Hi Team,

We recently implemented the Shopify Connector, and overall, it works great. However, we've encountered an issue with the tax amount in the sales order.

In Shopify's Order tab in D365, the tax amount is correctly displayed. But when the order syncs to the D365 Sales Order, the tax amount does not carry over.

We are using Avalara Tax in Shopify.

Is there any additional configuration required to ensure that the tax amount is included in the synced sales order?

Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

Sorry that it took me so long to find your question.

What you can do is write custom AL code to subscribe to the OnAfterCreateShippingCostSalesLine event in the Shpfy Order Events Codeunit and insert an additional Sales Line at the bottom of the Business Central Sales Order after it is created, using the VAT Amount value from the Shpfy Order Header record corresponding to the Sales Order.

Note: this will give you a single aggregated tax line for the entire Business Central Sales Order, not tax amounts by line item.

    Hope this helps.

I made this code, and it works great for all my orders that have shipping costs associated with the order, but we offer some orders with free shipping, and the tax doesn't carry over because I assume there are no shipping lines created. Is there another event subscriber code that I can use in order to get the sales tax added to every order, even if they don't get a shipping line?

    Hello,

With the standard Shopify Connector, tax amounts calculated in Shopify (including via Avalara) are not transferred to the Business Central Sales Order by design — even though they appear correctly on the Shopify Order page in BC. The connector assumes BC is responsible for tax calculation, so Shopify-calculated tax is treated as informational only. There’s no extra configuration to force tax import, and external tax engines in Shopify aren’t supported for carry-over. To have tax on the Sales Order, you must calculate tax in BC (e.g., Avalara for BC) or use tax-inclusive pricing as a workaround; otherwise, Shopify tax will never post in BC.

    Regards,
