AOS crash

Hi Community,

We have the unstable AOS (AX2009 SP1 RU3 + hotfixes 3384) lately and crash quite often (once in 2-3 weeks) and we believe following errors are culprit:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Object Server 01: Dialog issued for client-less session X: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Invalid cursor position

Object Server 01: Dialog issued for client-less session X: Cannot execute the required database operation. The operation failed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have hundreds of the above errors in a week and it occurred randomly.

This AOS server also serve as batch server, and AIF batch job is running on it.

Does anyone have idea how to resolve this issue?

Thank you,

S.C.GAN

    Hi,

Check aos server log directory if error files exists, also check if all clients that connect have the correct RU installed.

    Hello Seng,

It is very difficult to identify the exact cause of AOS crashing. The reason behind this is crashing of AOS might be because of memory consumption or leakage.

Microsoft has suggested the very good tool to gather the information at the time of AOS crashing.

The name of the tool is ADPlus. It's a utility which is being used to debug the windows.

    Here is the link.

    Hi Peter,

I couldn't find any server error log file and client is same RU+hotfixes with AOS.

    Hi Rakesh,

I would like to understand more about "Invalid cursor position" which generated hundreds in AOS event log every week. ADPlus is good but it doesn't explain the error and we have to wait for next AOS crash in order to get the dump file.

Thank Peter and Rakesh for suggestions.

    Regards,

Any change in AIF setup lately? if yes re-register the aif services under basic/setup/aif/services

and check if the errors still occur. Also check if at time of crash any batchjobs where running which could have caused the problem.

    Hi Peter,

No. But this error happened since last year just getting serious recently.

Yes the error occurred every day and I suspect it comes from AIF Batch jobs.

    AIF Batch job:

    Tasks:

    - AifGatewayReceiveService

    - AifInboundProcessingService

    - AifOutboundProcessingService

    Thanks,

    S.C.GAN

re-register the aif services as mentioned, if it doesn't help it doesn't hurt either. Restart aos after finishing this task. Make full backup of application and data on forehand just in case (which you would have done without me mentioning it I guess :-) )
