Set up to make AX 2012 RTM Comply with Making Tax Digital (MTD)

Please I need tips on set up or development work that can be done on AX 2012 RTM to make it comply with UK HMRC Making Tax Digital.

The information I've seen on the web via :

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/finance/localizations/emea-gbr-mtd-vat-integration

makes reference to Dynamics 365.

Any hint on adjustment that could be made to AX 2012 to make it compliant.

Thank you

Fade

    Hi Fade,

External auditing agencies such as the big four (KPMG, PWC, ...) often offer services that can help you the time until you are live on D365FO. In my home country, companies use sometimes external tax advisors that offer similar services often for a cheaper price than the big four auditing companies.

If this is just for a 'bridging' period, I think these are valid options that should also be available in the UK.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

You could ask the partner that is helping you implement F&O if they have solved this problem for any of their AX 2012 customers.

    Hi Ludwig,

Thank you for your contribution. We are in the process of upgrading to D365FO but this could not be completed in time for April reporting under MTD . Any idea of what else could be done in the interim.

    Thanks

    Fade

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for your contribution. I will continue to explore what could be done in the interim. My organsation is in the process of upgrading to D365FO, but this cannot be completed in time to be able to report VAT in April under the MTD reporting.

    Regards

    Fade

    Hi Fade,

As Andre mentioned UK HMRC Making Tax Digital is not supported for versions below R3.

You can do a backporting yourself but then run the risk that you are responsible and liable if mistakes happen.

The same applies for using partner solutions where the party from which you buy the backported solution is liable for errors unless specified differently in your contract.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Fade,

There is also an update released by Microsoft for AX 2012 R3. AX 2012 R2 and before are not supported by Microsoft. Anyway, your version of AX is not supported anymore by Microsoft. It would be recommended to upgrade to AX 2012 R3 or Dynamics 365.

Potentially, you can backport from AX 2012 R3 yourself or search for some partner solutions. I'm aware that some partners in the UK do sell a solution for AX 2012.
