Hi,

We are looking on enabling the Auditing for D365 Finance and operation (10.0.13) in order the see the history history on specific fields in the setup.
Can you please share your opinion on this; How (procedure) and what is the impact on the system performance. Wat are your recommendations?

Thank you !
Kamel.

    RE: Enable auditing

    Hi Junaid,

Can you provide me information for the following items.

    - Can we have metrics on impact to performance with logs enabled

    - What is the recommended flushing mechanism

    - What is the recommended retention period.

Also, I know that Closing inventory/recalculation when using inventory model FIFO is very long. I have experimented this but we are implementing inventory module and we will be using weighted average. Is this inventory model long to run as FIFO so Audit enabled could affect the server response?

    Thank you !

    Kamel.

    RE: Enable auditing

    Hi Kamel,

Yes if you kept it running for longer run, that can affect system performance because that increase DB log so quickly which depends on volume of data that you want to retain. If you see the link i shared, All the implications are mentioned like inventory closing process, data import process.

If you want to turn it on for several months then some best practices are also recommendations by Microsoft on the link like archiving/deleting/limit your log entries just to improve the performance.

Please discuss with your client all the implications so that they could aware about all facts.

    Thank you Junaid,

You wrote: ."..could lead to performance issues and make the system unworkable..."

So I'm understanding that is recommended to not enabling the track-audit

    Regards !

    RE: Enable auditing

    Hi Kamel Sadek,

In order to track/Audit the Setup/transaction level changes, you have to manually turn on tracking on respective table and that could lead to performance issues and make the system unworkable.

However You can find the details on below MS docs:
