Under some situation that the client/vendor may send some free samples to us, which the cost is "Zero", and they are also must be tracked in the system.
For now the process i can image to handle this kind of business are listed as below:
1. Sales/Purchase order with the price "Zero".
2. Inventory Adjustment with cost price "Zero".
Which is better ?
Many thanks.

I have the same question (0)If you want to track them I would purchase them, I would also sell them to track them. I would also have a unique item number depending upon the requirement, and this is the problem "best practice" depends upon the needs of the requirement - in the farming industry where samples are part of the legal declaration process tracking is very important, but they are not "purchased" they are "taken" and quality captures this information (or whatever tool) but then in other businesses the sample is a "representative" and a loss leader (so cost) and are sold but tracked to ensure customers are not constantly taking samples (small quantities could last businesses with infrequent use a long time). So ultimately "best practice" is driven by the industry and needs of the customer. For those with no requirement to track I would inventory adjust off the same item number :-)
