A sanity-check question: In D365 Security, if I create a new custom DUTY and call it say, /PAPER_CUTTER/, and I then create a new privilege to associate to it, and I also
call that /PAPER_CUTTER/, is that allowed/advised?
User Security object question: duplicate object names.. allowed?
Hi Rich,
If your question was only about having the same name for a duty and a privilege, then Frank provided you with the answer. Best practice would be indicating with a word what the permissions are about, e.g. Maintain, View, Inquire into, and Generate.
The object names will not cause an issue. Note that some privileges and/or duties in the standard application have the same label. That should be avoided in my opinion. In the next screenshot, you will see three duties with the same label, but they have different object names and different privileges linked.

Microsoft does it. I would probably differentiate between the Duty and Privilege so I could tell which was which if I had to look it up in a table or export table results.
