The warehouse management module requires that the following locations be license plate controlled:
My requirement is to receive and sell the items without using license plate.
For inbound process: -
I read somewhere that we can receive the items at a location that is LP controlled. Then when we are creating a put away, we can put these items at a Non-LP controlled location.
Question 1. If we try to put-away the items at a Non-LP controlled location, what will happen to the license plate that was created in the receiving location?
For outbound process: -
Question 2. Is there any workaround with the help of which I can run the outbound process with mobile device without using license plate?
Hi,
No-one has mentioned the 'Generate LP' tick box on the Mobile Device Menu Item. If you tick this, then AX will generate an LP Id when it needs one, which is ideal if you are not really using LP Ids (just ignore the 'dummy' LP Ids that get created).
Hi Sagar,
Thank you for explaining it in detail.
HI Anurag Nagarkoti,
Yes you are right that receiving, shipping and user locations should be license plate tracked. However this does not mean that you cannot run the warehouse without using license plates. You can run WHS solution and without using license plates for INBOUND and OUTBOUND operations.
The location profile is the place where you setup whether locations under the same will be license plate controlled or non license plate controlled.
Your quote - "I read somewhere that we can receive the items at a location that is LP controlled. Then when we are creating a put away, we can put these items at a Non-LP controlled location"
My comment - Yes its correct and for this you have to make sure apart from the receiving location of the warehouse e.g RECV all other locations where inventory is finally put are non license plate tracked.
Your quote - Question 1. If we try to put-away the items at a Non-LP controlled location, what will happen to the license plate that was created in the receiving location?
My comment - As you will complete the put away work AX will use the generated license plate to pick items from default receiving location (Which is license plate controlled) and put them to the final put location(which is non license plate controlled) and at this stage license plate tracking is stopped and items are not license plate controlled.
Your quote - Question 2. Is there any workaround with the help of which I can run the outbound process with mobile device without using license plate?
My comment - No need to ask for a work around as its a standard procedure in AX. Just make sure that your user, pack and baydoor locations are license plate tracked and inventory stocking locations like bulk, rack, pick are non license plate controlled. So as you will pick items from non license plate locations AX will not ask any license plate and while putting them to pack or baydoor location will generate target license plate automatically. (Based on mobile device setup)
We have so many warehouse working on advance warehouse but do not use license plates. It works like silk.
Remember receiving, user, shipping and pack locations have to be license plate controlled as no work in AX can work without a license plate but this does not mean inventory stocking locations have to be license plate controlled. Either starting point or the end point in the item movement have to be license plate controlled and these license plates are automatically generated by system.
Question 1: The license plate will be in the Inbound Location, but empty. (0 quantity) because you will effectively be doing the same funcation as License Plate Break.
Question 2: If your Outbound Location or Item is LP controlled, you have no choice but to use LP. It looks like you only Need license plate during Transport. Is that correct?
