Order attributes in ECommerce site

Posted on by 16
Hi all,

I have setup the Order attributes in Headquarters. Its basically a free text field that can be filled by the user in the E commerce site while placing the order.
My question is that, will the values be automatically passed to the Headquarters (FnO) or I need to write any code to explicitly set the Attribute values.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

We did an implementation back in 2019 for D365 Commerce and at that time it was suggested by product team to used "extended properties" on cart level to retain value entered by user and maintained as part of the active session. Once the Order is checked out these extended properties will be coded to be added to a Sales Order Attribute setup - applied to lines.

You have to associated the attribute group with the online channel via the 'Sales order attributes' button on the ActionPane Setup Tab. Then make sure to re-publish the channel(s) and run the 9999 sync job. You might have to do some config in site builder, I'm not sure, but I think it will all be there in Microsoft Docs if you check.

    Hi,
You can check out this document(Manage attributes and attribute groups - Commerce | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn  )which explains how to manage attributes and attribute groups in Commerce to describe products and their characteristics. Attributes can be associated with various Commerce entities, such as product categories and channels, and default values can be set for them. When attributes are associated with product categories or channels, products inherit those attributes and their default values. Default attribute values can be overridden at the individual product level, at the channel level, or in a catalog.
    Best Regards,
    Hana
