Since the form shown in the screenshot is standard form it needs customization.
Customization in the sense I means development.
You need to override the lookup method of the control and write your own logic which includes addition of new column to the lookup grid.

Yeah, it's possible. But you need to do a customization. You need to find how they have added lookup - Whether they have called any form or override the lookup method or through reference group.
