Fixed Price Projects but no charge time

Using Fixed Price Projects, how can we capture the number of hours and costs of the worker (for utilization), BUT not actually pass the charge to the customer/project because that time was included in the original Fixed Price??  When we use Non Charge on timesheets, it still charges to the project but we do not want it to.  Thanks for your help.  AX 2012 R2 CU7

    Hi,

When you have a project with type Fixed price, you can only invoice On-account transactions. Hours won't be included on an invoice regardless of the Line property and Sales price.

So you don't have to configure anything additional.

If you need to charge additional hours or cost you have to create a new (sub) project for it with type Time and material.

Hello.  Thank you for your response.  We understand that it does not appear for the on-accounts, but what we want to do is to account for the hours and costs associated to the worker for the project, but not pass that on to the customer. So the worker still enters project timesheets.  That way we can track the utilization of the employee, but no charge to the project.  When an employee puts Non Chargeable on the timesheet, it still hits the project as chargeable.

    Hi,

I understand your concern. The status of the hours on fixed price projects is not important for invoices. Only on account transactions can be invoiced. Hours will not appear on an invoice for a fixed price project.

    Hi.

On the project groups for your fixed price projects. there's a configuration where' you can control how hour transactions are posted. If you choose "Never Ledger" here the cost of posted hours will never hit the project. But you would still be able to run your utilization report. This would be the preferred solution for what you are trying to achieve.

Alternatively you could create a line property with a cost percentage of -100% or simply configure the cost price as zero in the hour cost price configuration table for all fixed price project groups.
