Reporting currency calculation

ReportReport

Hi,

I need to import a fixed asset journal, the journal needs to use the DEBITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY and CREDITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY as the reporting currency is different from the accounting currency.

I have noticed that if I create depreciation proposal through the system, the exchange rate field is 100, however the DEBITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY and CREDITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY are different from the DEBITAMOUNT and CREDITAMOUNT.

I have checked the exchange rate and was not able to find the exchange rate used by the fixed asset proposal. I have also noticed that the exchange rate used by dynamics is the same for different dates.

I need your help to know if there is a system setup screen that hosts the exchage rate used by fixed assets.

The fixed assets exchange rate is different for each fixed asset. I am not sure what is the logic behind it.

    Hi Hossam,

When I look at the screenshots, I don't see directly anything wrong. The exchange rate field is the exchange rate when posting journals in another currency than your accounting currency, so the value 100 is correct here.

Can you explain what you mean with "The fixed assets exchange rate is different for each fixed asset."? Also on the screenshots, I'm not able to see the setup of the exchange rates at the particular dates used in the journal.

    Hi André,

What I am trying to achieve is importing the fixed assets split transaction. What I have noticed is that for the DEPRECIATION ADJUSTMENT transaction type if I import CREDITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY and DEBITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY as exmpty with exchange rate field as 100, the posted voucher will have 0 in the amount in reporting currency.

I guess I need to import this amount in my excel sheet.

The ACQUISITION ADJUSTMENT is working though, however the reporting currency amount is not mathcing the ACQUISITION amount due to exchange rate difference, hence I will not be able to get 0 NBV for the reporting currency.

This issue is the same if I do the splitting from the system, the NBV for the reporting currency is not 0.

Is there a table or data entity that has the fixed asset balances in reporting currency? This way I can import those values and get 0 NBV in reporting currency.

    Hi André,

I found a table ASSETTRANS which has the reporting currency amount for fixed asset transaction.  The only pending issue for me is to import a journal for the AcquisitionAdj  TRANSACTIONTYPE CREDITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY field.

The strange thing is that after import the CREDITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY value of this field is empty, and it is having a different value once I post the journal based on the exchange rate that Dynamics is picking, although my excel file as exchange rate as 100.

This issue is not there for DepreciationAdj TRANSACTIONTYPE, and the journal is taking the value I provide at the import.

I am not sure if there is a setup that doesn't allow importing the CREDITAMOUNTREPORTINGCURRENCY for the AcquisitionAdj  TRANSACTIONTYPE

    Hi Hossam,

I haven't seen this issue myself before as I haven't seen many implementations myself where the reporting currency was enabled or where it had another currency. I do understand your issue now. There is a Reporting currency adjustment journal, but only suitable for Ledger transactions. There is no similar journal for fixed assets.

Probably the NBV will be corrected when you dispose the asset, however not all assets will be directly disposed when the NBV is zero.

Have you considered creating a ticket for Microsoft Support?

Thanks a lot for your quick response. I am planning to open a ticket tomorrow morning. But no body beats your experience.
