Reconcile Bank Statements: Can you undo an adjustment?

Posted on by 5

I made an adjustment on the Reconcile Bank Adjustments window. However, I would like to delete/reverse the adjustment. I have only the saved transaction and have not reconciled. Is it possible to delete or remove the adjustment?

Did you re-open the Reconcile Bank Adjustments window where you entered the transaction?  If you haven't finished the reconciliation, it should still be there.  You can then highlight the amount and right-click and select to Delete Row.

(You won't see these entries in the list of transactions in the Select Bank Transactions window.)

If you completed the reconciliation, you'll need to void the transaction in Transactions > Financial > Bank Transactions.

Thank you for your response. I followed the steps but I am unable to find the adjustment in the list of transactions. It is as if it disappeared but the amount of the adjustment is included in my transactions. Have you experienced something similar before?

    hi

Yes, it is possible to delete or remove the adjustment if it has not been reconciled.

To do this, follow these steps:

Go to the Reconcile Bank Statements window (Financial > Routines > Bank Reconciliation > Reconcile Bank Statements).

    Select the appropriate bank account.

    Click on the Transactions button.

Locate the adjustment you want to delete and highlight it.

    Click on the Delete button.

Click on Yes to confirm the deletion.

Note that once an adjustment has been reconciled, it cannot be deleted. In this case, you would need to create a reversing entry to undo the effect of the adjustment.
