Since  you are Techno-Functional Consultant , would advise to do below certifications , which will surely boost your career and profile and also add to company which you work .

MB - 800 Core functional implementation: financials, sales, purchase, inventory, configuration, reporting
Mb - 820 AL development, extensions, APIs, events, VS Code, source control, and app publishing

And then you can think of Data engineer (DP-600)  once you get good hold of technical architecture in years.

Experience and Hands-on will increase your Practical knowledge, Certifications will give you credibility , visiblity in your linked in profile also.

    Hi,

Certifications like MB-800 (Functional Consultant) and MB-820 (Developer) are not mandatory, but they are highly recommended for career growth.
    > They validate your skills officially and help in roles where Microsoft or partners require certified consultants.
    > Certifications add credibility, especially for new opportunities or global projects.
    > Experience is more valuable for practical problem-solving, but certifications complement it by proving structured knowledge.

Best approach: Combine real-world experience with at least one certification (MB-800 for functional, MB-820 for technical).

    Thanks

    Hi,

If you are Techno-Functional, go for MB-820 first, then MB-800 if you want to show business process depth.

In fact, I’ve seen many clients who specifically prefer or shortlist consultants who already hold these certifications when selecting candidates for new projects.

    Having these certifications -

    • Shows that you meet Microsoft’s official competency level.

    • Adds weight in LinkedIn profile / CV / Partner evaluations.

    • Keeps your knowledge structured — many people working only on projects miss out on newer features or best practices.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Santosh,

Certifications like MB-800 or MB-820 are not mandatory, but they help career growth by validating your skills and boosting credibility. Experience is more valuable but having both is ideal.

it's not a must. as long as you can do your job well, the certifications are optional.
there are people with certifications, but cannot perform well.

however, there are still people who values certification. if you can, you should take it.

Obviously, this isn't a must, but it's better than nothing.
If you're willing to take on this challenge, I think it will open up more opportunities when you switch jobs later.

    Thanks.
