Can we change the globe icon in URL field in CRM?

Hi,
 
There is a wish expressed by our clients to change the "globe" icon in the URL field in the Dynamics 365 CRM form.
 
Is it possible to do it using custom logic (Like PCF controls, Custom web resource HTML/JS etc.) ?

    • PCF Control (PowerApps Component Framework):
      Create a custom control for the URL field where you can define your own icon, behavior, and styling.
    • Web Resource (HTML/JS):
      Not recommended for replacing field icons, as standard field rendering cannot be modified directly via JavaScript.
    Note:
    Out-of-the-box icon customization for standard URL fields is not supported. PCF is the correct and supported way to achieve this.

    No, you can't change the default "globe" icon in the URL field through standard settings.
     Yes, it's possible using:
    • A PCF control (recommended)
    • A custom HTML/JS web resource
    These let you fully customize how the URL is displayed, including the icon.

    You could definitely do it with a PCF control.
     
    If it were me and I needed to do this for a client, I would think about making this extendable and usable for other groups. For example, rather than just create a PCF control with a new icon, make one where you can define any 16x16 web resource in the application as the image to use. This way you, or the clients, can change what icon is used in each environment or even on different pages/fields if so desired. Would be a neat PCF control.
