Control Add-ins will not run in RTC on server, only on local computers-"To help protect your security, your web browser has restricted this file from showing.."

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am having trouble getting a Control Add-ins (JavaScript) to run on Windows Servers in the NAV 2013 RTC client. I have tried both my control and the example from Microsoft in the documentation, but nothing works. On my local Win 8 machine both controls runs just fine. On the server the page opens up with the message: "To help protect your security, your web browser has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer." In "internet options" all kinds of settings have been tweaked, including allowing "Active Content", but it does not make any difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Are your win 8 PC in a AD? If your PC is a member of the AD ->asked your Active Directory Administrator.

Or you could try the following:

Launch RegEdit and navigate to the following location and change the data on the value from 1 to 0.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN, iexplore.exe

Check if any security firewall interupting the port from access. Add Inbound and Outbound entries.

Thanks for your answer, but I am afraid that is not the case either. There is no additional software running on the machine.

Do you have any additional internet security software installed in your machine? If so disable it and check.

Nareshwar, thanks for your suggestions. But, I have tried everything (I think) regarding security on Internet Options, and nothing seems to work.

    Hi,

Just one suggestion, try dropping the Security level on the Security tab on Internet Options as well.

If you still face it, Internet Options → Security (tab) → Custom Level (button) → and Disable Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls.

    Hope it helps.
