Fixed assets depreciation remaining periods calculation

Hi,

I would like to know how is the fixed assets depreciation remaining periods calculation is done.

We have a weekly calendar for depreciation. We have aquired a fixed asset two depreciation periods back. So in the excel template we have the DEPRECIATIONPERIODS as 260 and DEPRECIATIONPERIODSREMAINING as 258.

I have imported the fixed asset, and fixed asset book, and the aquisition journal, and the historical depreciation for the two weeks through data management.

Now once I run the depreciation proposal for 4 weeks, and post the depreciation journal, the system is showing a fraction in the depreciation remaining periods.

Please assist me in what I have done wrong.

    Hi,

Can you please share details of your weekly calendar, the date the fixed asset was put in place and the time the depreciation started.

Would be great if you could make some additional screenprints from your fixed asset book.

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hello,

Depreciation period remaining depends on the service life*your period of calendar you selected in your books.

    Hi Hossam,

I am not sure how you have applied the weekly calendar in the Depreciation profile or book.

As per the standard system, the Depreciation period is :

The number of depreciation periods for the fixed asset. When depreciation periods are part of the setup of the depreciation calculation, they are used to calculate straight-line depreciation and factor depreciation. The default service life in years for the book can be set up for the fixed asset group but can be changed for each fixed asset and book combination. The depreciation periods are calculated by using the setting in the Period frequency field in the Depreciation profiles page. If the period frequency is Quarterly, the service life of 1 is equal to four quarters in the Depreciation periods field. If the period frequency is Yearly, the service life of 4 is equal to four periods.

And Period frequency can only be possible Yearly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Half-Yearly in Depreciation Profile.

Please let us know how did you get the Weekly period? is this a development?

    Thanks,
