Purchase requisition "Stopped" error

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am using AX2012 - the purchase requisition workflows configured consist of both purchase requisition line and purchase requisition header workflow joined together. The issue is that the "approval" process occurs by purchase requisition line and when there is an issue with the purchase requisition line (e.g. no user to approve is found) a "Stopped error" is raised on the purchase requisition line "history" form and remains with status "Pending" on the purchase requisition header.

The problem is that unless the user manually checks the "history" of the purchase requisition lines he/she will not find out that the workflow has stopped due to a "stopped" error.

Has anyone come across this issue before please? And is there any way for the user to identify a "stopped" error from the purchase requisition form rather than having to navigate to the "history" form on the purchase requisition lines for each requisition.

Thanks in advance,

Alexia

    Morning Alexia,

If you right click the main body of the top level of the workflow and select properties > notifications there should be a selection of started, stopped, completed, terminated etc. You can then chose the text you wish to be shown on the notification and the intended recipient.

    Hopefully this helps.

    Hi,

How exactly is a notification for the stopped error configured please?

Within the purchase requisition workflows notifications can only be set for approved/rejection/change request/delegation actions.

    Thanks,

    Alexia

Also find it is sometimes helpful to set up so that as well as an admin the originator of the workflow gets a notification, in our case by email, that the workflow has stopped. Helps keep the workflows and approvals flowing as people are immediately  aware of the stopped error.

you may setup notification  for stopped error, an you can route that notification to Admin user, who may  look into reasons why user is not found and he/she can further route/reassign the WF to any user
