I think segment configuration is key to your answer, the link below can guide you on how to do it.

Business Unit, Cost Center, Value Stream and Department are type of Operating unit

as per my understand it not possible to have different and suppose to have same number sequence

some work around you can do is...

You can allocate range of number sequence for each type of Operating unit

or you can set the Operating Unit number sequence as manual so that you can specify your desire number sequence value for each type of Operating unit.

Please verify and update with your findings.

    Abdo,

I just had to do this exact same thing. I am sure you have resolved this by now, but just wanted to post this so that others would be able to get past this "hurdle" as well.

It's a bit challenging to find, but the number sequence that needs to be updated is:

    To make the change:

    1. Go to: Organization administration > Common > Number sequences > Number sequences.

    2. Find the sequence named: Orga_1 (Organizational Number)

    3. Select to edit that record.

    4. Go to the "General section and put a check in the "Manual" check box.

After doing this, you will now be able to manually add the Department # (Cost Center #'s and Business's Unit #'s as well).

What if my department numbers are DA01 to DZ99 ? How can this be setup, since the number sequences are all numeric, and even if I setup a constant as a segment, that cannot change from DA to DB for some department.

    Any ideas

    Hi Rajendra,

The number sequences do not support ranges in constants. Or you have to set the number sequence to be manual, or at the end of the DA sequence you can change the constant and set the next number to be 1 again.
