Could not communicate with Microsoft Outlook client

I have tried installing Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. Both are 32-bit. It did not work. Should I try Outlook 2016 if that work? We don't even know that it is compatible with AX 2012 R3.

I have both of the versions on different systems: Ax 201 R3 or Ax2012 R3 CU8, it does not work on both of them.

It is very weird that both are Microsoft products but having so many issues communicating with each other, why????

With CU8, exchange parameters were added to Ax 2012R3. But surprisingly AX does not communicate with Exchange as well.  We have on-premises Exchange Server so it should be very easy for AX to communicate with mailboxes, but "NO"!!!!

Could you please tell us more about what you're trying to achieve, what error you get, where it's thrown and so on?

I am trying to integrate Outlook/exchange mailbox with AX user to sync tasks, appointments etc. with AX.

I have set up the user relation with a worker. Both have the same email address. Also, the Outlook has been setup for the AX user. User email has been setup in Options > email.

Still this error: Could not communicate with Microsoft Outlook client.

I have two testing servers, it is happening on both. Any suggestions??

"To integrate" can mean anything. I also don't see any details about where you get the error and so on.

If you don't give us enough information, people would have to guess your problem and it's not a very successful method.

It is on a server where I have single server installation implemented for Ax 2012 R3 with CU8. Also, I have installed Outlook 2010_32-bit.

I am doing something which comes as default with AX:

    Home > Setup > Outlook/exchange Setup wizard

open the Wizard > Next > Employee Setup:

    Select Employee

    Select Login

Next >  error: "Could not communicate with Microsoft Outlook client"

    Thanks

It sounds like the expected behavior. If you click Next without configuring connection to Exchange, AX obviously can't connect to it.

In CU8, the error shouldn't really talk about the client, but maybe they just forgot to update the label.

    Hi Parwinder,

When setting up and you select 'pick contact from microsoft outlook folder', does it give a look up for selection?

    Hi Robert,

When I click on "Use current profile", it processes for few seconds and  gives me the same error.

    Martin,

I had configured the connection for exchange when I use Exchange in my Server parameters [ Org Admin > Setup > Outlook/Exchange Sync >parameters]

I also tried changing it to Outlook, but I get the same error.

Obviously, "Select Employee & Select Login" is already filled in.

One more thing I want to mention when I close outlook and then start the "Outlook/exchange setup wizard", I get no error on the "Employee Setup" step but when I choose "Use current profile" then I get totally different error : "The Microsoft Outlook profile e-mail address abc@contoso.com is different from the employee e-mail address ."

However, both the employee and user have relationship created with each other and have same email id. Outlook is also setup with same email id.

    Any thoughts!!!!!

Thank you for spending time informing us that most of my solutions are garbage. Your constructive feedback is much appreciated and all community members are now much wiser because of that.

Nevertheless don't expect me to stop trying to help others to formulate their questions and resolve their problems just because you don't like it.

I have no idea what "publishing of a life story" you're talking about, but it's clearly not related to the topic of this thread ("Could not communicate with Microsoft Outlook client"), so you should find a more appropriate place for such remarks.
